St. Martin Early Learning Center provides education for children ages six weeks to 13 years, including kindergarten readiness and before and after school care. We are licensed by the Pennsylvania Department of Human Services. In addition to quality programming, families also have access to all of our other services and benefits like Thanksgiving meal baskets, Christmas gifts, and other items throughout the year.
Continuity of Care:
This model of teaching sets us apart from other Erie County centers. Each child stays with the same group of children and teachers from the time they enter SMELC until they reach Pre-School age. They will then move to a new class at a time that mimics the transition to school. This helps teachers and families to develop a close bond that allows for better child development and family care. As teachers get to know families and their needs, they assist with referrals to our other programs or other area agencies.
Why is Continuity of Care so amazing? Dan, a parent, says: "Continuity of care enabled both my children to develop strong, and long lasting bonds with their teachers. Positive relationships take time to develop and the continuity of care model allows for this to happen naturally. It isn’t rushed or forced with a limited amount of time for a teacher to get to know a child before they move on to the next class. The teachers went to great lengths to develop trusting relationships with me as well, knowing that they would be with my children for many years. The children come to understand that their teacher, just like their parent, will be there for them through all the stages of early life. And that’s priceless."
