Strength in Numbers
You've probably heard before that there is strength in numbers. And that two are better than one.
We definitely know this to be true in our building and in the community. As an agency, we provide several programs which all work together towards the common goal of helping families. And, when we make agency decisions, we ask everyone for feedback. Ultimately, it is about the people that we serve here and we know that we can do a better job of serving them if we work together.
We also recognize that we are not the only organization out there helping Erie families. Mike Batchelor, President of The Erie Community Foundation, states it best when he says “while the mission of each nonprofit might vary, they can build on each other’s strengths. They can leverage each other’s work and they can definitely collaborate to address larger societal issues...” We value the work that we do with other agencies that extends beyond our core programs: educating children, feeding families and improving family self-sufficiency.
Don’t get me wrong – I didn’t say collaboration was easy. Sometimes, it can be like making Thanksgiving dinner. There is a lot of love and good intention in putting together a great meal but the process can be difficult. In the end, it is worth it. You have a wonderful meal that you can enjoy and laugh over together.
Here at St. Martin Center, Inc., we want to celebrate all the wonderful, hard-working members of our “family” who help us accomplish our mission. Please take some time and check out the newest section of our website: our partners.
This section certainly doesn’t cover all our partners but it is a good start. Chances are that if you’re reading this blog, you work or support us too! THANK YOU for being a partner. If you’re reading this blog and are not working or supporting us yet, give us a call; we’re always looking for more partners!
